Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari will be visiting Akwa Ibom state today to officially flag off her pet project, ‘Future Assured Programme in the state which has been in the news recently due to inter-party crisis going on there ahead of the crucial 2019 General Elections.
This was made known at a press conference by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang on Thursday in Uyo
The presidential aide said over 10,000 indigenes of the state would benefit from the pet programme which was also supported by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Godswill Akpabio and other members of the National Assembly
He explained that beneficiaries were not only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as they cut across party lines.
Enang, who said beneficiaries were selected through a transparent and apolitical process by the NDE, added that the gesture was not part of the electioneering campaigns.
He said some of the beneficiaries would be empowered with non-refundable grants, loans, interest-free loans while others will be trained on various areas of skills.
His words, “The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari will be visiting Akwa Ibom state for the purpose of flagging off her pet project, Future Assured Programme in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment.

“Other persons that would also collaborate on that programme including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Senator representing Akwa Ibom
Northeast, Senator Godswill Akpabio and other National Assembly members who have most of their constituency empowerment programme that would want to use that opportunity to empower their people.”
Remember that the ruling All Progressives Congress has since been eying the oil-rich State to take it over from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that has been in charge of it. The Federal Government took a bold step step in that direction by wooing and taking the over the immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Godswill Apkabio.
All other things the party is doing is aimed at preparing their way and winning the hearts of the citizens of Akwa Ibom to vote for the APC in the elections. The results of the elections will definitely tell who did a better job between the two parties.
