Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have shunned a reconciliation meeting meant to placate those who feel shortchanged about the recently held primary elections of the party.

The party’s primary elections in all the positions in Anambra had been characterized with all manner rancour, ranging from alleged extortions, disqualifications and outright issuance of the party’s tickets to favoured aspirants.

The bad blood generated from the primaries had forced the party to set up a reconciliation committee, which is headed by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Jerry Chukwueke.

A meeting scheduled for 3pm on Thursday at the party’s Secretariat was shunned by almost all the aggrieved aspirants, but surprisingly, the committee itself stayed away from the meeting.

An aggrieved aspirant, who spoke to DAILY POST on phone on condition of anonymity said, “what reconciliation are they doing? Which reconciliation are you talking about? After extorting monies from us, they now say they want to reconcile us, how possible is that?

“If they are serious about the reconciliation, let them start by refunding our monies to us, then we will know they are serious.”

The aggrieved politician accused Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, his wife, Ebelechukwu and the national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye of killing the party through extortion and imposition of candidates.

He said, “We will fight them in this election, you will see what will happen, this is the beginning of the end of APGA.”

Some supporters of the party who attended the botched reconciliation meeting said the committee may have stayed away for fear of being attacked, as tempers were still high over the incidents of the primary election.

The chairman of the party in the state, Chief Norbert Obi refused to address journalists on the failed meeting. He simply said; “there is nothing to say”.
