Hostages were taken in a supermarket in southern France Friday, and a police officer shot in two separate incidents.
The shooting incident took place in the town of Carcassonne, a 15-minute drive from the scene of the hostage situation in the town of Trebes.
Police say multiple gunmen were involved in the two incidents.
French authorities say the ISIS terror group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. One of the shooters has claimed allegiance to ISIS, AFP has reported.
