Kano Pillars defender, Chinedu Udoji Dies in Car Crash


Nigerian defender Chinedu Udoji died after involved in an auto crash on Sunday, February 19.

Udoji who is a veteran defender of the Nigerian Professional Football League was said to have been involved in a car crash along the club road in Kano.

A statement on Kano Pillars official Twitter handle confirmed his passing away.

“Chinedu Udoji was involved in a car accident yesterday after visiting his former team mates at Enyimba. This tragic accident happened along Club Road in Kano. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans, and football”lovers all across the country.”

Enyimba football club of Aba also confirmed the passing of the defender on their Twitter account along with a message of condolence.

“We are distraught at the news of the passing of club legend and former captain, Chinedu Udoji. Our commiserations are with his family at this time.”

Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye took to Twitter to mourn the death of Udoji.

The Former Enyimba international captain died after his man-of-the-match performance for his team, Kano Pillars, yesterday.

Udoji was voted man of the match before he was engaged in auto accident last night, in Kano, while heading back to the Pillars club house.
